About Kate Wicks
Kate joined W Davies in 2001, as a secretary. Her work covered all aspects of commercial and residential property transactions. This included processing dictation, drafting and amending documents, carrying out searches and defining the areas in question on the plans, putting together reports on leases and title, liaising and meeting with clients, compiling Land Registry applications and forms, Landlord and Tenant notices, Stamp Duty Land Tax returns. She also undertook research and presented her findings to the relevant solicitors.
In 2015, Kate left W Davies to work for a property investment company in Woking. In this capacity, her work included the following: instructing solicitors in purchase transactions and dealing with the legal aspect of those transactions; providing reports to the investment companies; dealing with large-sale portfolios; liaising with the housing associations who entered into leases of the properties bought and obtaining signature to documentation; complying and providing figures and information to the solicitors to enable rent agreements with the housing association to be drafted.
The experience was useful – however, in late 2016, Kate was persuaded to return to W Davies, to work as a Paralegal in our Residential Conveyancing Department. Her fee-earning work covers: sale and purchase transactions; transfers of equity; re-mortgages; and assisting the Head of the Department.
